What I've been doing and saying

December and January have been a relatively quiet time, focused mainly on family. The zeitgeist informs me that grandparenting is the New New Thing, and we’ve been doing a fair bit of that, mainly with our grandson James.

On the academic front, I’ve finally completed a big paper with my colleague and training partner Flavio Menezes, trying to reconcile the two dominant approaches to industrial organization (game theoretic and conjectural variations). We are hoping it will make a big splash, but such hopes often come to nothing - there is a huge amount of luck in academia.

I’m preparing for the Mooloolaba Olympic triathlon in March, but not pushing too hard. People always say “I just want to finish” but this time it’s true. I hope to train a bit harder in the leadup to Sunshine Coast 70.3 in September.

Here are some articles I’ve written over the summer:

and here are media reports for November, December and January. Thanks to Alysha Hiluevo of UQ for preparing (curating?) these. Password is “quiggin”
