Hi everyone
I wedged three weeks of conference/academic travel between fundraising events, with the result that I have been very slow to start asking for support on the Brissie to the Bay cycle for MS Queensland, my longest running fundraising event.
I don’t have a particular connection to this cause, but MS Queensland has been really active in encouraging events like this, so I’m now a regular. I’ve usually been super-successful in raising funds and am very keen not to let that lapse, so I’ve set a target of $2000 to raise before the event on Sunday.
I’m doing the full 130km distance for this one. With breaks, I expect to take about five hours. Even though it’s not a race, I will be using to train for the Sunshine Coast 70.3 Ironman (1.9km swim, 90km cycle, 21.1km run) in September.
In all of these things, I’m reminded how lucky I am to have made it to the Biblical three score years and ten (next birthday) without any significant impairment to my health, as well as being in good shape financially. I know that many of my readers aren’t so lucky, and need to focus on looking after their own difficulties. But if you can help, please do.
