With September approaching, annual Fred’s Big Run appeal is reaching the end of its run. I started with the aim of raising $2000 and running 150km. Thanks to the marvellous generosity of my friends and family, I passed that goal a while ago, and have now raised $2461.
The only response to success is to look for more success so I’ve raised my target to $3000. To make that a bit easier, a generous donor will match all donations today and tomorrow.
The ultimately aim isn’t to raise money but to end curable blindness. That can be done for as little as $25. Another $50 will mean that this year’s appeal has raised enough to restore sight to 100 people. Over the years since I started doing the Run, we’ve helped restore sight to 457 people, which is pretty amazing.
On my side of the deal, injury prevented me from running for most of August. As a result, I’ve had to substitute cycling. But I’m now back on my feet with a 16km run yesterday. I’m planning to finish the month with a 21km run, preparing myself for the Sunshine Coast 70.3 (1.9km swim, 90km cycle, 21.1km run) on 8 September. Your support will really boost me.
