Fred's Big Run
August is nearly here
Hi all
It’s time for another fundraiser. This time, Fred’s Big Run, supporting the Fred Hollows Foundation. It’s a great cause, both because Fred was such an inspiring figure and because so many people could have their sight restored for such a small cost.
Some great news since last year. Australia has finally eradicated trachoma though this came far behind poorer neighbours like Vanuata and PNG . The Fred Hollows Foundation contributed to these success stories and is still working hard in Australia
I’ve committed to running and cycling 200km for the month of August. In particular, I’ve entered th Sunshine Coast Marathon ( picture from last year’s 10km above). This is my first attempt at this distance since a failure on 2019.and my training has been disrupted by injury and travel, so I can’t guarantee success. But to the extent that appeals like this are based on suffering for a good cause, I can guarantee both the suffering and the cause.
Your donations will encourage me to keep going to the end and on to the Sunshine Coast 70.3 Ironman event in September.
Please help if you can, or just give me an encouraging comment
Thanks
John
