Fred's Big Run
Double donations day
Hi all
Every day is a great day to donate to my Fred’s Big Run appeal, supporting the Fred Hollows Foundation. But today is a double donations day, where a pool of generous donors will match any donations given. It’s a bit of a gimmick, since I expect the money would be given anyway, but gimmicks are part of the fundraising game.
I’ve done my last long training run for the Sunny Coast Marathon on Sunday week, a half-marathon at just over 7 minutes/km. I’m not expecting to be anywhere near the leaders, even in my 70-74 age group, but I’m feeling more confident about finishing.
I may not be competitive as a runner, but I’m shamelessly competitive about fundraising. I’m pleased to report that I’m currently third on the leaderboard, less than $700 short of the top spot. If I can make it to the top, even briefly, I’ll raise my target from 200km running and cycling in August to 250km.
Your donations will encourage me to keep going to the end and on to the Sunshine Coast 70.3 Ironman event in September.
Please help if you can, or just give me an encouraging comment
Thanks
John
